CORE4120 - Self Publishg and Creative Practice
Self-Publishing and Creative Practice is a class for students in any major who are interested in publishing and promoting physical and digital books that showcase their work. This published work can include art books, comics, photo books, artist monographs, serigraphs, etc. Students will develop an in-depth understanding of publishing possibilities in their chosen visual medium, including self-publishing, pitching books to publishers and agents, crowd-funding, and advanced pre-press knowledge. They will also utilize the building blocks of self-promotion—promotional materials, social media use, conventions and networking—to create a self-promotion project and publishing pitch. Combining this knowledge, students will be able to engage with the broader publishing culture as a member of that community.
