CORE1029 - Introduction to Fine Arts
This is team-taught, integrated class between Fine Arts and Art history. It will introduce first year students to the discipline of fine arts through a combination of studio based projects as well as lectures and discussions on the history of modern to contemporary art. Project based assignments include both individual research and collaborative efforts, with compelling studio and liberal arts work to be created. Material and process explorations support the student’s individual studio practice. The course engages lecture, discussion, projects, activities of critical inquiry, observation, analysis, research, and writing to hone aesthetic vocabulary and communication skills as well as provide a foundation in the history of modern to contemporary art.
