CORE1024 - Introduction to Illustration
This is team-taught, integrated class between Illustration and Art History. It will introduce first year students to the discipline of Illustration through a combination of studio based projects as well as lectures and discussions on the history of Illustration. Featuring research, writing, presentations and projects that integrate the historical contextual material into studio work, various thematic topics will be explored such as print/publication materials, sequential narratives, and design imagery. The course engages lecture, discussion, projects, activities of critical inquiry, observation, analysis, research, and writing to hone Illustration studio practice, aesthetic vocabulary, and communication skills as well as provide a foundation in the history of the discipline.
